
Susan Aberth
All Artists and WritersSusan Aberth is the Edith C. Blum Professor of Art History and Visual Culture at Bard College, New York where her specialties include Latin American Art, Surrealism, Outsider Art and Esotericism. She holds a BA from UCLA, an MA from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, and a Ph.D. from the Graduate Centre, City University of New York. She received a professional development fellowship from the College Art Association and the National Endowment for the Humanities. She is the author of Leonora Carrington: Surrealism, Alchemy and Art (2004). She has contributed essays to Agnes Pelton: Desert Transcendentalist (Phoenix Art Museum, 2019), Leonora Carrington: Cuentos Mágicos, (Museo de Arte Moderno & INBA, Mexico City, 2018); Unpacking: The Marciano Collection (Delmonico Books, Prestel, 2017), and Leonora Carrington and the international avant-garde (Manchester University Press, 2017).
