R. Andrew Chesnut, holds the Bishop Sullivan Chair in Catholic Studies and is Professor of Religious Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is currently conducting research for the sequel to Devoted to Death: Santa Muerte, the Skeleton Saint(2012). A renowned specialist in Latin American religion, he is also the author of Santa Muerte: La Segadora Segura (2013) and two other books on African diasporan faiths, Pentecostalism and Catholicism.
